Valen is the term used to describe Evos that have manifested abilities outside of enhanced conditioning, teleportation , telekinesis , and species affinity. The there are only two known ways to manifest a Valen ability. A Valen be produced by the being the child of two Evo parents though there is only a 15 percent chance that the child will be carried to full term and each Valen that is produced this way only manifests the power of telekinetic teleportation. The only other way for a Valen to be produced is through a process called mututa.

Mutata is a process by which an Evo manifests a Valen ability. Evos produce a chemical called adrenocortical. This chemical is activated through stress and can jump start as well as mutate certain genes. When an Evo that has not manifested their abilities is faced with a trauma inducing stress the chemical in some cases can warp the genes that cause Evo powers to manifest and allow the Evo to manifest a Valen ability. The mindset the Evo has during their stress is also a big part of what power is manifested by the Evo. It is also worth mentioning that just because and Evo manifests their abilities that doesn't necessarily mean that they will manifest a Valen ability because their natural Evo abilities could solve the issuse. For example, one Evo maybe being tortured an manifest heir power of teleportation because they are wanting to get away while another Evo may manifest pain infliction because they want to punish the person who is torturing them.
